PDO Thread Services in Springfield, MO
PDO threads are our newest service at Beautiful You Med Spa and are on the cutting-edge of aesthetic procedures. They are a non-invasive treatment that stimulates neocollagenesis (fibroblast activation) through the body’s natural healing process, increasing collagen production and enhancing blood flow. This results in tighter skin and improved overall texture and tone. PDO threads also give an immediate lift, and continuously improves results over time.
While neurotoxins paralyze muscles to smooth wrinkles and dermal fillers temporarily build volume and support, PDO threads are the missing biostimulation that neurotoxins and dermal fillers alone cannot produce. All three treatment modalities can be used together to provide the all-encompassing results you are looking for.
Why PDO threads?
SAFE: FDA cleared, our PDO threads are minimally invasive with a high safety profile, complete absorption and very little tissue reaction.
NATURAL: By inducing the production of collagen and increasing blood flow to the treatment area while stimulating the body’s own healing process, results tend to appear very natural.
VERSATILE: Using PDO threads offers additional treatment options that deliver results you cannot achieve with neurotoxins and dermal fillers alone. They can be used in many different areas of the face, neck and body.
Categories of Threads
Smooth PDO Threads
Used for immediate structure, skin rejuvenation, improving texture, skin tightening, stimulating neocollagenesis for long term collagen production.
Smooth threads are great for patients looking for basic skin rejuvenation and tightening. Smooth threads are mono-filament sutures placed in an ultra-thin walled, sharp cannula. The treatment area is marked depending on the patient’s goals, and the number of smooth threads to be used is determined. Most areas require anywhere between 3–20 threads, depending on the treatment surface area.
Lifting PDO Threads
Used to lift tissue and stimulate neocollagenesis to improve skin texture and firmness.
Lifting threads are great for patients looking for a nonsurgical, immediate face lift and long-term collagen stimulation. The lifting threads come as barbed or molded. Barbed threads have laser cut bi-directional “barbs.” These barbs are what engage in the tissue in order to lift the skin. Molded threads tend to be stronger and are best used in patients with heavier tissue.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does a PDO thread lift hurt?
The procedure itself is minimally invasive and does cause micro-injuries to layers within the skin. However, Beautiful You applies a local anaesthetic before your treatment which will ensure that you remain comfortable and relaxed throughout.
How long does it take to see the effects of a PDO thread lift?
It is important to remember that the results of a PDO thread lift are progressive. This is because the body’s natural production of collagen and elastin takes time, reaching a peak at around 6 months post-treatment. The effects of treatment can potentially last between 2 and 3 years, after which time further treatment may be necessary to maintain your results.
What side effects can I expect after a PDO thread lift?
A great benefit of a PDO thread lift is that the side effects are minimal. There is no downtime and you can get back to your usual routine right away. You may notice a little swelling and bruising that lasts for a few days, after which time it should fade. You will be given some Arnica gel when you leave which helps to break down any bruising you may have so that your body can flush it out sooner. Creative cover up makeup will camouflage any bruising the few days after your treatment, if necessary.
What areas can PDO thread lift be used on?
PDO therapy can be successfully used on various areas of the face including the cheeks, brow, nasolabial folds, marionette lines, jawline and neck as well as other parts of the body. A consultation with our team will be able to advise you if PDO thread lifting is a suitable treatment option for the area that you wish to target.
